Dr Renu Sharma: Journey in STEM Leadership

Dr Renu Sharma Former COO & Director of Translation and Impact, ICRAR “My Journey of Building a Universe of Possibilities” Dr Sharma came to Western Australia from India in 2000, facing the challenge of starting over in a new country and culture. From vocational training to higher education leadership, she became Chief Operationing Officer (COO) and Director at ICRAR, helping position WA as a global hub for radio astronomy. Along the way, she learned the power of resilience, collaboration, and inclusivity—and has worked tirelessly to mentor and inspire young people, especially women, to pursue STEM with confidence. Her story is a testament to perseverance, embracing opportunities, and turning challenges into extraordinary possibilities.
