Synthetic Biology Society Team at 2025 ASBC

The Synthetic Biology Society is excited to introduce our competition team ✨, who participated in the 🧬 2025 Australasian Synthetic Biology Challenge 🧬 representing the University of Melbourne! Earlier this month the SBS Competition team (aka AntiAnti Bio 🧪) presented their project at the Final Showcase: to tackle the problem of antibiotic resistance 💊 by investigating the targeted suppression of resistance encoding genes 🧫. By selectively disabling expression of proteins relevant to the E. coli resistance pathway, RNAi-inducing and antisense treatments could re-induce vulnerability to antibiotic treatments. We can’t wait to participate in the ASBC competition in 2026! 💚
